Pitter Patter
(1Day Prototyping)
London 2022
Pitter Patter is an attempt to broadly collect unpredictable and hard-to-define data existing in nature, and then organize and understand it as a new standard. In this process, the randomly collected data is ultimately output in the form of sound, to be transformed into meaningful and easily understandable data for humans.
The data collection begins with triggering the physical sensors attached to a microcontroller with raindrops. This generates a digital signal and transmits it to a computer. The first step of the generated data is the sound of random notes, but to be translated as meaningful data, these random notes are converted into sounds played within a specific scale. Finally, this sound is played through an arpeggiator, allowing the listener to perceive the signal as musical data.
